Do you use a checklist?
Some of the considerations for a project checklist may include:-
Hosting | ![]() |
Content | ![]() |
SEO | ![]() |
Marketing | CTA | ![]() |
Testing | Go-Live | ![]() |
Is there anything missing?
Every project is different. Adding steps to the checklist could add time, resources and expense but this is not necessarily the case.
We have three suggestions that we believe not only address potential security vulnerabilities, but add important value and peace of mind for clients.
Security | ![]() |
Maintenance & Care | ![]() |
Legislation | ![]() |
Why we’ve included each suggestion.
Security : A website is a valuable asset. Hardening its’ access and security is just as important as installing firewalls, malware and virus scanners on a corporate network or on individual electronic devices.
Maintenance & Care : 83% of WordPress sites globally were hacked due to not being kept up to date (Source: WPBeginner). Our own research shows similar trends for sites operated by UK individuals/organisations/businesses.
Legislation : A fact often overlooked, but running any website comes with legal responsibilities from where the site is hosted, to cookies, privacy notices etc. and protecting personal data, so pretty much everything this website is about!
We’re developers not lawyers!
True, however, although the obligations of the data protection and other privacy legislation rest with the client as the Data Controller under the GDPR, you need to produce a web site and database which is compliant as inputting any personal data onto the site pre-release or during development would mean that you could be acting as a Data Processor.
